After Mother Dairy raised prices, Amul announced its plan to increase milk prices
Since Mother Dairy and Amul have been following each other when it comes to raising milk prices, attention turned to Amul shortly after Mother Dairy did so.

In the Delhi-NCR market earlier this week, Mother Dairy raised the prices of full-cream milk by Rs 1 per liter and token milk by Rs 2 per liter. Amul has stated that it does not have any immediate plans to raise milk prices, which is good news for customers. R. S. Sodhi, the MD of the Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation (GCMMF), told the media of this. Milk is sold by GCMMF under the Amul brand.
Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, West Bengal, and Mumbai markets are where GCMMF sells milk primarily. The cooperative sells more than 150 lakh liters of milk each day, of which nearly 40 lakh liters are sold in Delhi-NCR.
Input costs haven’t increased significantly since the GCMMF’s last retail price increase in October, according to Sodhi as well. All markets outside of Gujarat, where assembly elections will be held in early December, saw price increases of Rs 2 per litre for both Amul Gold (full-cream) and buffalo milk in mid-October.
The price of Amul Gold was raised from Rs. 61 to Rs. 63 per liter. The cost of buffalo milk was increased from Rs. 63 to Rs. 65 per liter. GCMMF has increased milk prices three times this year, while Mother Dairy has increased milk prices four times.
With daily volumes of more than 30 lakh liters, Mother Dairy is one of Delhi’s top NCR milk suppliers. About 75–80% of the prices consumers pay for milk are transferred by Mother Dairy and Amul to the milk producers.
Budgets for households have been impacted by the increase in milk prices at a time when food inflation is already very high. Mother Dairy put the price increase down to a rise in the cost of buying raw milk from dairy farmers.
A spokesperson for the industry claimed that “this year, the entire dairy industry is witnessing a huge gap between the supply and demand of milk.”
The company noted that the price of raw milk has been pressured by the unpredictable monsoon and the rising cost of feed and fodder, which has reduced the supply of raw milk.
Additionally, Mother Dairy reported an increase in demand for processed milk. “Prices for raw milk have risen further as a result of the persistent supply-demand imbalance that has persisted even after the festive season.” As a result, we are forced to pass on some of the effects by revising some variants’ consumer prices. “According to the spokesperson,”
The world’s largest producer of milk, India, produces about 210 million metric tons of milk each year.
