This Twitter employee was fired by Elon Musk, rehired by Musk, and then fired by Musk again
Since the wealthiest man on Earth took control of Twitter, things have been rocky for the company. Musk has made a number of changes to the company’s board, staff, and policies in the past month.
An anonymous post on Blind claimed that a Twitter employee had been fired, rehired, and then fired again by the company.
Peter Yang, head of product for Reddit, retweeted the post with the caption, “Unfortunately, not everyone is having a great Thanksgiving break.”
This is a screenshot of a Blink post that read, “Laid off, called back, now fired.” Early in the month of November, I was informed that I would no longer have a job at Twitter and that I would receive severance pay equal to three months of my salary. Not long after that, they called me back and told me they think I have “critical talent,” so they want me to write some documentation and provide some “code samples.” I was fired last night without any explanation and given the option to sign a release of claims in exchange for four weeks’ severance pay. Another worker wrote about what happened to him on LinkedIn. Yiwei Zhuang was a machine learning infrastructure engineer at Twitter until he was fired suddenly, according to his LinkedIn profile.
On the same day, Musk reportedly fired more Twitter employees, the majority of whom were engineers. This was unexpected, given that Musk had just a few days earlier stated that he was done with layoffs. These terminations occurred one day before the Thanksgiving holiday in the United States.
